Could you be the next Junior Vice President of BVZS?

Could you be the next Junior Vice President of BVZS? CLOSING DATE – 1ST JUNE 2022!!!


Applications are invited for candidates willing to stand for election for the next Junior Vice President (JVP) of the British Veterinary Zoological Society. This role is a one-year volunteer position, commencing at the AGM in November 2022. As JVP, you will be expected to progress into the year-long post of President (PRE), subject to finishing your JVP year successfully, and a year-long post as Senior Vice President (SVP). As such, this is a 3-year volunteer post commitment.


Stuart Patterson is expected to progress to PRE in 2022/23 and Romain Pizzi to SVP and both would welcome an enthusiastic colleague to work alongside them.


The requirement for this post is having completed a minimum stint on BVZS Council for 2 consecutive years in the past. Please send your CV and a short motivational statement of max 300 words to [email protected] . Deadline for applications is the 1st of June 2022. Election of a suitable candidate will be carried out internally, within Council. The successful candidate, to be proposed at the AGM, will be advised of the outcome at the end of July 2021.

As JVP, your job description would include the following: Be an active member of the Officers Team (OT), working as one with the PRE and the SVP. / Be prepared to stand in if the PRE not available. The President’s job description includes: Leading member of the Officer Team (OT) / Represent the BVZS and its views at every level and on every occasion, including public speaking, in specific at BVZS conferences /BVZS representative to the BVA, attending BVA Council Meetings (quarterly) /Respond to Consultations via BVA, or directly to DEFRA or other politically active bodies /Compiling agendas and proof minutes for the Council Meetings (CMs) and AGM / Chairing CMs and the AGM /Be available for comment on topical issues/consultations / Produce position statements. As SVP, your job description would include the following: Be an active member of the OT, working as one with the PRE and the JVP / Be prepared to stand in if the PRE not available / Be available for comment on relevant topics and attend the AGM in the 2 years following end of his/her term in this post.
